Texas Legislation

How it all began

It may have all started with only 10 commandments, but today the law has grown to multiple bookcases of volumes, and it includes whole libraries if you add agency regulations.

Since 2003 (78th Legislature), I have served on the State Bar of Texas’ Real Estate Legislative Affairs Committee.  This committee monitors bills filed in the Texas legislature that may affect real estate, lending, and other related commercial matters, and summarizes those bills that pass.  I keep my own lists of bills in which I am interested on the pages below, and provide my own comments on them for the benefit of my clients, friends and colleagues.

The most popular category of bills in every list is what I call “legislation interesting for all the wrong reasons.”  Click on these links to review those bills as well as others I think were important in each particular session.
